The Acceptable Use Policy
Introduction
The Acceptable Use Policy is intended to help protect HybridIRC's users and the Internet community from abusive use of the Internet. By using any service provided by HybridIRC, you are in full agreement of this policy. HybridIRC reserves the right to revise and update this policy at any time.
HybridIRC is a privately owned and operated network. As such, HybridIRC staff and administration reserve the right to deny anyone access at any time, without advanced warning and without being under any obligation to provide a reason. Where a reason is provided, it is done so at the discretion of HybridIRC. Your actions relate to your personality on IRC, if you choose to be a large disruption, chances are we'll remove you. If you choose to be a respectful user, you'll be treated as a respectful user and given the same courtesy.
Connections & Proxy Policy
The use of open proxies including TOR is prohibited. The usage of open proxies will be considered evasion, any attempts to connect using open proxies will result in an immediate ban. Bouncers (BNC's) are allowed for anonymity, but in the event that it is abused, that privilege will be revoked. You are limited to 5 connections per IP address, including IRC clients and friendly bots.
Open Proxy Scanning
For security reasons, use of an Open Proxy to connect to the network is prohibited. To enforce this, HybridIRC uses the Hybrid Open Proxy Monitor to monitor all connections to the network. Upon connecting to any HybridIRC servers, your client will be scanned by the proxy monitor to ensure you are not connecting through an open proxy. By connecting to the network, you agree and give unrestricted permission and consent for the network to use the proxy monitor to scan your connection for such purposes. All scans and results are logged. The HybridIRC network will never release the information from the scan logs except in cooperation with requests from law enforcement agencies or ISP providers with legitimate cause for request.
Harassment & Abuse
IRC in general is an unmoderated medium and the network administration is not responsible for the traffic passing through its servers. The network administration do not interfere in channel matters occuring in unofficial channels, unless it violates this Acceptable Use Policy. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: flooding of channels or clients, spamming or mass advertising of channels, websites and other IRC networks, Denial of Service attacks and threats of the same. Personal harassment, where it is accompanied by evidence, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Channel founders will enforce their own policies on harassment. Channel affairs such as this may result in local channel action, at the channel founders discretion. If the offender has been warned and the problem continues, it can be brought to the network administration. Depending on the severity of the harassment, a temporary ban may be applied, or in lesser cases the user may be temporarily frozen. Any activities which jeopardize the rights of other users, or the existence or functionality of HybridIRC as a whole, are prohibited.
Absolutely no mass advertising, whether by /notice, by /msg, or any other medium. Channels relating to adult sexual topics MUST remain set to +s (secret) mode at all times. Sex-oriented channels relating to minors are absolutely forbidden.
Illegal Activity
Threats of Denial of Service attacks targeting the network will be taken seriously and will be reported to the proper authorities. The discussion of any illegal activity and/or illegal trading of copyrighted files is expressly prohibited, this includes but is not limited to: the sharing of copyrighted material (where the owner has not waived copyright, or where the owner has not agreed to its distribution) including: pirated software (warez) and pirated music, channels for discussing illegal activity, including but not limited to: cracking and the trading of software serial numbers. The distribution of child pornography is prohibited.
HybridIRC will not accept the registration of any channel primarily founded for the purpose of distributing illegal files. If a channel is registered for this purpose, the channel will be dropped by a network administrator.

Staff members are defined as IRC operators, help operators, and network administrators of the HybridIRC IRC Network and it's servers. These users have been selected to assist with the operations of HybridIRC, and as such are granted the ability and authority to make certain decisions regarding appropriate uses and behaviors on the HybridIRC server. Users are expected to cooperate and abide by all requests, directives, or inquiries made by HybridIRC staff.
